the night before Dec 1...

got the camera ready and battery charged up to start taking Dec daily pics...check:-)
filled the advent calendars with treats till at least day 5....check (I scammed some leftover halloween candy to fill up the boxes - I promise to get other treats by day 5:-)
clean up my entrance-way so the drywall guys can actually come in the front door tomorrow to head into the basement to start taping tomorrow am...check:-)
did not touch the C-mas tree as per my hubbys request - you see the kids decorated it this year, so all the ornaments are on the right side and are all positioned in the one area till the halfway point of the tree (as that is as far as they could reach)  I want to "fix" it so bad, but Mark wants me to leave it.... so check...for now:-)

It looks much better when the room is dark and all you see are the lights...
(and yes - I will put the curtain back up over the window, I hung a new curtain rod, and did not have the right size drywall anchors so basically everything pulled out of the wall on Sunday, so I bought new anchors, puttied up the holes, screwed in the curtain rod anchors and did not get to putting up the curtain yet)

the house is quiet by 9:00pm so I can work on a quick project.....:-) check:-):-):-)have a great night:-)

December Daily 2010...

Here we go - December is just around the corner and are you ready???
I did a December Daily last year - and I truly LOVED it!  I loved taking the time to take a picture everyday, journal about our day, it really made me focus on what the holiday season is all about - YES IT IS WORK!!! to make sure you make a concious effort to document the everyday happenings of you life....but it is sooo great to look back and see what you did!

My game plan is usually simple - create a base, add a few embellishments...but do the final "dressing up" when the photos are in...
I went with 6x8.5 chipboard covers (cut from a 12x12 piece)

covered them with Canvas paper (I had been hiding in the backroom of the store, waiting for the perfect project:-)  I glued the canvas to the chipboard & inked the edges with Walnut Stain distress ink.

Next I had to pick the paper for my "theme" I went with the Hot Chocolate line from Fancy pants!

and also some corrugated paper ( I had also been hiding for the perfect project:-)

From there I sometimes glued patterned paper back to back, sometimes left it as one sheet, added some glazed brads from Basic Grey Jovial line, Maya Road numbers & Kraft tags & a bit of bling, & some stars from Studio Calico & pockets and folders from Teresa Collins - all in the store:-)
Also added some stickers from hot Chocolate, and when I glued some of the papers back to back, I left room for a pocket, to put an additional photo in.
Here is the base of my book!

When I adhere stickers ahead of time, I cut part of the back out with the sticker, that way I have the option of overlapping it over a photo or journal block!

mini album...thinking of summer

it's snowing outside, but we can remember and dream of summer right?
Here is a mini book I did about our week at Betula Lake - using the flashcard book from October Afternoon, and pretty much all OA Seaside products:-)

Not every word in the flashcard book was usable...so words like seashore or ocean were covered up with photos and paper.  We were at the lake... loving the seashell ribbon by may arts and used a bit of twine as well.  I used all my favorite verse stickers, and label stickers from OA... and of course added a little sparkle to the pages with some good ol' stickles!

I hope you feel inspired and if you are a little cold today - scrap something with a little bit of sun in it:-)
