December Documented

Welcome here!

Using Simple Stories December Documented line & a Sn@p album from the same company - here are photos of the base pages to my book.  I will post photos when I add more so you can see how you can decorate a bit more after the fact.  This is a great idea because the month is so busy - this way the work of getting the album is done & all you have to do is add photos and journalling and notes as your month goes on.

and here we are - at the end for now...

I hope you feel inspired!

Merry Christmas Banner with new Bundled Up line from Crate paper

I have had a Silhouette machine for close to 1 year now - and I am by no means an expert!  I still go to the manual to figure out the simplest things - but I do love what it can do!

I wanted to create a banner for my fireplace - and I had a helper (Ms.A) so we went shopping in the Silhouette store!  We found a Banner pattern we liked with extra scallop circles as and add-on  and spent our $$ and got it...but now to separate the banner from the scallop circles etc - and re-size that banner for our needs!!
After checking the manual I played with the Ungrouping button - clicked on the image I didn't want cut at this time (i.e.- the scalloped circle) pressed delete (x button) and done!
When I was left with just the banners - I pressed the Grouping button, and then could change the size of the group of banner so they were all even.

Perfect - cut that out enough times for the background of the words, Merry Christmas.

Then the next part - cut enough scalloped and shaped ovals for the banners -
I re-opened a new file, inserted the file (upgrouped to delete the banners this time)
And ungrouped to highlight, move and place my images where I wanted them on the mat - then I replicated the images to fill the mat and this is what I got!

now I have no idea if this is the "proper" way to go about it..but it worked for me:-)  And I think that is what it's about - getting the machine to do what you need it to do!

so here are a few pics from the process!

Paper and embellies from Crate Paper "Bundled Up" line!  a few extra things as well:-)

Base banners - yes the silhouette even cut out the holes for the ribbon

let the layering begin!! Ms. A was in charge of putting on the pop-dots

So colourful & fun!!

I hope you feel inspired!

Altered items...

anyone who knows me, knows I like to use paper for so much more than just a scrapbook...I think scrapbooking is art, and should be out in the open, not just hiding on a shelf in the corner.
So saying that I wanted to show you some projects I have done showing you what you can do with a little "glue and paper".

I started with a suitcase I found at the local thrift store -
I painted the metal trim with white spray primer for metal, and then painted over it with a mint green acrylic paint.  I also sprayed a bit of primer over the suitcase because I was planning to put a lighter colored paper over top - I did not wanted the navy to show through.

I started to spread Modge-podge over the suitcase, I worked in a section about 12x12 inches, I placed ripped out pages from an old Reader's Digest book, I just made sure to spread the Modge Podge over the paper as well, that is what helped it to stay down.

I just covered the whole suitcase, making sure the paper was straight along the metal trimming, and worked my way into the center.

I added Ribbon along the metal edges (attaching that with sookwang tape) and then scrapbooked a little layout with all sorts of reading & journalling words.

I hope you are inspired to create something altered too!

KOTM - August "Summer Fun"

Having some fun with our August Scrapbook - Kit of the Month!

We are starting off with some Sketch Inspiration this month!!

I love to use sketches - they can inspire the shape of how to cut your paper on the layout - or even ideas for mixing patterns - and ideas of where to put your embellishments and title!

This was my "Interpretation" of the sketch:-) I did something a little different with embellishments - added 2 more photos than the sketch originally called for - and also I did not add an official title * I often find that if the layout is part of a "Bigger project" like a vacation album, I don't feel the need to Title every page because the page becomes part of my story:-)

Embellishments:-)

Page 2 - is using the backside of the feather paper - I loved the lime green and coral combination - it looks like summer!!

Because the letters were Lime green, and I put them on a Lime green background - I took my Sepia colored journal pen and outlined the letters to make them pop!

The "Splotches" are made with Distress Stain, I just put it down onto the cardstock and gave it a little squeeze! It's a super fun look!

These tickets are just cut out of the My Mind's Eye paper in the kit

And some card inspiration for you too!!

All this was made using our KOTM this month - and I still have stuff left over!

I hope you feel inspired!
