October KOTM

so October is halfway done - but your KOTM is here! We are going to try for a mid-month format for a while, hopefully getting the date a little sooner to the 10th - my life is just too crazy at the end and beginning of a new month - so I have to choose what I can do and do well...I can do the KOTM well if I change the release date...so here you go:-)

don't you just LOVE Instagram!!

This month’s kit includes the following
6 Sheets of Bazzill 12x12 Cardstock in the following colors

6 Sheets of Patterned 12x12 Paper from Pink Paislee (2), October Afternoon (2), My Mind’s Eye (1) & Studio Calico (1)
Lots of Lovely Embellishments are included-
Full package of Bo-Bunny Lace
Full set of Alphabeans (alpha stickers) from Jillibean
1 Border Sticker, 3 Vintage Buttons or wooden numbers,1 brad, 2- stacked stickers(assorted) – Crate paper
1 metre Yellow & White twine – Twinery
Washi Tape – Bella Blvd
4 Journal Labels, 1 arrow & 1 stacked sticker (assorted)– Pink paislee
1 label stamp – Studio Calico, 1 clip & 3 Die-cuts(assorted)– My Mind’s Eye

Here are some layouts and cards I whipped up with this kit!!
These pics had been in my stash for a while - Aubrey's 1st movie experience - in the Steinbach Theatre (which is closed now:-(  ) Cars2 was the movie - and she fell asleep almost immedately after the previews!

loving those little journal tabs - Pink Paislee (24 in a package)
started up the sewing machine for a little detail - and the white dots are Mr. Huey's - Calico White

ok this layout was FUN - I took a pair of scissors and forced it through the paper from the backside...and then when I flipped it over I distressed it with some Vintage Photo Ink and my blending tool!

The label stamp is from Studio Calico - stamped in Archival Black

The arrow is new from Pink Paislee - Artisan series, you ink or spray them and they have a built in resist pattern on every piece - they come in butterflies too!!

 a little tuck and layer

 "D" for Dain:-)

pretty simple layout - used the Natural cardstock as a mat around each photo, the little labels for Legoland and May 2012 are both the Studio Calico stamp again.

Used the Alphabeans stickers overtop of the Washi tape - cool look!

just a few cards with my leftover goodies:-)

no - I do not sew straight!!

 1 more layout - 8.5x11

this pattern is the backside of the black and white dot in the kit

the able label sticker  - not in kit - but it suited the layout!

You are awesome too!!
I hope this kit inspires you to scrap and create this month too!!

Why a Kit of the Month???

I love to create the Kit of the Month - or KOTM - to me it is like getting a package of product together that will all flow right onto your pages! Seriously, I love to choose patterns that compliment - but are not necessarily the same line, and then match up cardstock (I am very good at this!!)
and then open all sorts of products, and split them up, or find some yummy things that just match so well I have to throw in the whole package...

these are some past kits and what we have come up with!

August KOTM

September KOTM

And here are some lovely projects created by me with the September Kit!

do you ever think - I don't need a full package but would like to try a few...
I need to get out of my rut - I always use the same supplies
I have trouble matching patterns and cardstock
OR
I just want someone else to do the thinking this time...

Maybe a KOTM is for you:-)

I hope you feel inspired!

Disney album...in the making!

working on a Disney scrapbook - I did not even scrapbook our last trip...and we went again, now I bet that sounds familiar!! So following my own Mantra - Scrapbook the current photos in your life...I am starting my Disney book.
First off I thought I would scrapbook it a little differently - so I started a mini smash book on the trip- in it I did some journaling, I kept all our receipts, leftover fast passes, tickets, wristbands and all sorts of collectibles from our trip - the smash stick journal pen with the glue stick end is sooo fabulous for this purpose, the other reason I love just using a glue stick is that you can "lightly tack" things in, making them easy to pull out when you are ready to transfer to your pages. I lose paper, so this method of tacking items into something, even temporarily really works for me!!
I then choose my album for the trip!

SMASH FOLIO POCKETS - 13.5" X 11.75" - FITS 8.5 X 11 PAPER

this book is HUGE - what I love about it is the little bags, folders, pockets etc that are attached right to the spiral binding!

Now when doing a Mini album (as that is kind of what this is, even though it is not mini in size) I generally organize my stack of photos 1st

so I started to plan my album pages - chronologically according to date and event - and started with just tucking the photos into the pages, one after another. Once I planned photos for about 4 pages, I went back to page 1 and trimmed photos as necessary, and then started to adhere them to the pages.

I thought this "What UP?" page was the perfect beginning as the photos are from the airport and on the plane when we are "up" in the air.

I will show you a few more pics of photo placement - now keeping in mind that at this point I am just organizing the photos, adding a little patterned paper on some pages, and sticking down those photos...when I work on any sort of mini album, I leave my embellishments until the end - so these pages will all look different when I do my finishing touches, which I will show off in a future post.

the next page is a pocket page - so I thought I would use this for all my Blizzard beach photos - so I first added a little bit of tropical paper from the Summer Soul line from Fancy Pants
the pocket itself looked nice and "beachy" already...
I decided to lay out the photos and then figure out how to get them all into 2 pages and a folder,
the folder pocket holds 8.5x11 paper, so I will do some layouts with my extra photos,
here is the photo with the folder

ok - more to come & I will get working to show it to you!!

I hope you feel inspired!

creating

to create you have to feel it - a great space has something to do with it, but you have to love your paper, your pictures, your content, your inspiration, your "stuff" you want to add to the page... I feel very blessed that I have a job that inspires me constantly, I spoke to a few ladies today - and I love to ask "what are you working on?" the answers always vary, and the projects that are shown to me, are so great - thanks for sharing:-)
that being said, I want to share with you, I have been scrapbooking for a while now, and I ALWAYS had to scrap in my bedroom - now you know how much stuff you can accumulate - you all tell me you have a store of your own in your house...but finally after many, many years of this...
well I wanted an old pic of my bedroom scrap space but could not find it:-( If I do find will add it afterwards)

...from the bedroom I was then in my cold unfinished basement for quite a while...

Hey, I had a plug in heater - an extra lamp, and it worked!!
But then we finally decided it was time to finish the basement, I was SO EXCITED that this meant I would finally get my own space, and would have a place to create - and shut the door to(as I am a messy creator!!)

then the day finally came and I could move in....I had to organize ALL of this!!

Now I kept on telling myself I would post pics of my space when it is all cleaned up and perfect, but that being said - it never is!! I ALWAYS have something on the go - so here it is, as I work in it and play in it...

My Space

the space is actually quite white with great lighting - the combo of the flash and the chandelier makes it kind of yellowy in the pictures!

lovely storage from that "M" place!

this wall has my own heater (absolute awesome feature) and my rolling trolly from Cropper Hopper, love this, but am looking for a tiny laptop desk...maybe this in white??

case on top - holds my printed photos, bookshelf has my inspiration and a few stamps in the white bin

more inspiration - and a layout that I had just gotten back fr Cdn Scrapbooker as it was published:-)

just a few mini books -I keep a bunch more upstairs where the kids/company can look at them

I still love my wooden stamps:-)

my lovely sewing machine - courtesy of MCC thrift store - my typewriter is from there too, but it is in the closet right now
Cropper Hopper bins - normally used for cardstock, but I use them to house my current pages/projects - I generally sort pics, and add paper and embellishments, and put projects into giant Ziplocs, that way, if I get inspired, I am pretty much ready to tackle something!

yes - there is the Dec Daily - all done, just have to bind it up and I will post the finished product (sorry, flash went of again so photo got yellow...)

there is it, in all it's messiness, however I have not met too many scrapbookers who admit to being neat and tidy - I love it, and am down there in my own little "scrappy" world, almost everyday...

Here are a couple of things I have created in the last while!

Punched circles out of My Mind's Eye's beautiful Valentine line, in the store now!

I sprayed both the TH ticket and the butterfly with OA pink Sprinkler spray...
sprayed the word heart and this butterfly as well
crinkled the ribbon with sookwang tape
used the starburst punch from Martha Stewart - the word celebrate and butterfly are from the OA Sidewalks Miscellany pack
these layouts are inspired by Marcy of My Scrap Shoppe/October Afternoon design team... I used the Starburst punch again
 OA sprinklers again
journal tag is chipboard and from Studio Calico - as is the paper

pretty much the same layout, just flipped a couple of things - photos were from the same photo shoot

thanks for your time today, I hope you feel inspired!!
If you have photos of your own Scrap space and would like to share a link - I would LOVE to see it:-)
