Altered items...

anyone who knows me, knows I like to use paper for so much more than just a scrapbook...I think scrapbooking is art, and should be out in the open, not just hiding on a shelf in the corner.
So saying that I wanted to show you some projects I have done showing you what you can do with a little "glue and paper".

I started with a suitcase I found at the local thrift store -
I painted the metal trim with white spray primer for metal, and then painted over it with a mint green acrylic paint.  I also sprayed a bit of primer over the suitcase because I was planning to put a lighter colored paper over top - I did not wanted the navy to show through.

I started to spread Modge-podge over the suitcase, I worked in a section about 12x12 inches, I placed ripped out pages from an old Reader's Digest book, I just made sure to spread the Modge Podge over the paper as well, that is what helped it to stay down.

I just covered the whole suitcase, making sure the paper was straight along the metal trimming, and worked my way into the center.

I added Ribbon along the metal edges (attaching that with sookwang tape) and then scrapbooked a little layout with all sorts of reading & journalling words.

I hope you are inspired to create something altered too!

a little fairy...

sometimes I do manage to scrap for myself - a book just for our family's eyes - not a sample to put in the store:-)  I love to create so much for the store and inspire many people - however, samples get picked up, held and often dropped on the floor (yes they do!!)
this book is for Aubrey - using Graphic45 Once upon a Springtime paper, a Magenta mini album with flaps, and adorable pictures of my gorgeous girl - this is a book just for her - it was done in celebration of turning 5.

Have a peek:-)
the front cover - the book is about 7x7 and I tied on an INSANE amount of ribbon!!
 page 1 & 2

close up of fussy cutting on the cover

simple layered scallop circle - charm is by Bo-Bunny  "Gabrielle" line
 page 3 & 4

another scallop circle - border punch is by Martha Stewart (modern garland) rhinestones from Prima
the flap when closed - jump rings hold it on - I used Tim Holtz
 flap when open
page 5 & 6 - metal flower is used like a little knob to lift up...
and reveal more photos underneath - lacey rhinestones from Prima

 Page 7 and 8

The back of the book:-)

my gorgeous girl!!

and yes - I did dress my girl up like a fairy just to take these pics - I had this idea in my head for this book for a little while!

I hope you feel inspired!

Finished Artist Tray...

wanted to show you the finished product of a project I posted about way back when (I think Dec)...yes sometimes it does take that long to get it perfect:-)
This is a 7Gypsies artist tray in White - when I saw it I could just see the kids pics in it from the Beach last summer, so using October Afternoon paper - "Seaside" line, their stickers, some girls paperie charms, Tim Holtz metal and Vials (this is the reason it took so long! I was waiting for him to come out with these vials!!)

Sea shells and moss came from the sunny beaches of ...Dollarama:-)  The Sand from the beach, and the water...from my tap!  I needed it to look real! Now you know all my secrets:-)

I hope you have a great day and you feel inspired!
