just a little book....

the great thing about this hobby is creating for the "fun of it"  a few Friday nights ago I had the pleasure of scrapping with Tannis D at the store. It was so great to be there after hours, catch up and just create something for fun...not for the store, not for a class, but just because...and this is what I made:-)

Happy December!

what a wonderful month - the food, friendship and fun...it's a little busier than others but yet there is something so special and magical about these days leading up to Christmas!   Normally I do a December Daily - see previous posts here ....but this year I think I might go more into the "Documenting December" mode - my life has been uber-busy and I don't want to get stressed about scrapbooking everyday...that being said I usually prep and make up a "Skeleton book" ahead of time too...not this year - so it will be very simple and just hold onto the basics for me:-)  I will let my brain mull on that a little and see where it takes me.
I have been creating a little bit - getting ready for the Christmas Open house and Grand Opening for the Winnipeg Store - We did get in the OA Sidewalks line and since OA is my absolute fav - playtime was seriously in order:-) So here is a little layout about my friends boy Jackson:-)  Playing in the sand at one of my fav places in the world, Betula Lake....

I just want to say I am LOVING those "Sprinklers" - super fun!!

now it's time to go over to the Ranger site and Watch Timmy's 12 tags of Christmas video...my friend T and I are going to make each and every tag this year:-)  so who knows, they might make their way into my Documenting December book...

Pine Point Rapids...

 Here I used a Kraft background that I inked up the edges with Vintage Photo, patterned paper is all from the Imaginisce "Happy Camper" line... stickers are from the same line and a little OA thrown in for good measure:-)

 these letters are studio calico's wooden letters, I sprayed them with Mr Huey mist in Clover and then painted them with Tim Holz Crackle paint to give them this look.

Inspiration...

well this is kind of a "waiting time" at the store...saw a tonne of great stuff last week that were released at the show... here are a few things I LOVE!

 My Minds Eye - Lost & Found 2 line is AMAZING!!! I already know we will do some Mini-book classes with these!!

 OA - their little Cowboy line called "Sasparilla"  seriously sooo cute, look at those banners!!  I think Dain might be getting some cowboy boots so I can scrap with this!!

 For Whimsical Christmas - loving Echo Park! There will be chipboard, brads and stamps to match - Yippee!!

Graphic 45 - wowie!! Christmas Emporium is stunning, and check out those stamps!!!

Cosmo Cricket released this ADORABLE retro line!!"Dear Mr. Claus"  - sooo loving that Tiny Text...I'm actually kind of glad I did not scrap last years Christmas yet... gotta get busy as soon as this comes in:-)
Well those are just a few things I love!  I have already pre-ordered Basic Grey, Little Black Dress & Picadilly (Oct releases), and all of the Bo-Bunny lines.  Trying to decide which Halloween line to order (I usually only get one - maybe you have a suggestion!!)  Christmas lines - oh at least 6-8 different ones are on my list!! - What is it with this obsession with Christmas paper!!!

So like I said... new stuff is coming, but while we wait we can look and create with some older stuff in our stash...I hope you feel inspired today!

New October Afternoon...

"Campfire" is the newest line from October Afternoon. I am loving this fun paper line with adorable foxes and bears roasting marshmallows.  Here are my kiddies munching on Smore's around a Campfire - perfect for this paper line!

more from the Fly a Kite line!

here is another layout from this great October Afternoon line - sorry you keep seeing this line but I have SOOO many summer pics and this line just works so well!
I used the 12x12 patterned paper called Sprinkers for the background (how perfect a summer name is that:-)
and cut the circles out of Ice Cream.

I added stickers from the fly a kite word sticker sheet and buttons from the Rusted Sun button package (Fancy pants)  The metal brad is from the Sunkissed line (Bo-Bunny).
Journaling is simple as this is a layout part of a larger vacation and it says "spending the day at Typhoon Lagoon") Circles are just cut out with scissors, the Ice Cream paper has defined circles, and then the rest of the circles I just traced the outside of a CD for the Green gingham circle, and the inside for the little yellow one. The medium yellow one was left over from another project.
Maybe today will bring you sprinklers and icecream- if nothing else you could always just get the paper and have it that way:-)

loving me some October Afternoon !!

okay so I am not really too organized - I admit it, however when it comes to planning layouts - I do have a little routine - I print pics & pull paper and pile them up in this Album & Paper file from Creative Options

  I pretty much have 10-15 layouts ready to scrap and add accents to at any given time - the only issue is that sometimes it takes a while to get down to the bottom:-) Well I had to re-organize this tool this week and found this paper (Old OA, from the Road Map line - but there still is a few sheets left in the store!) and wanted to Scrap with it.
Other items added to the page are the Sweet Summertime rub-ons - currently available in store (see pic at bottom of post), and the green letters are the "Honey" font from American Crafts(my favorite font right now!) and the tiny black ones are "tiny type" from Cosmo Cricket.

The Summer time sticker is also from OA - label stickers and the glazed brads are from Girls paperie.


After this one was done, I felt inspired to use some current OA- Fly a Kite is a line I keep going back to - I love it's fun bright colors!

the smaller patterned squares are actually the journal squares from the Fly a Kite line, I just flipped them backwards as they are the same patterns as the 12x12 papers, but just a little shrunken down so you get the maximum pattern on a little piece ( there are 11 punch out journal cards on a sheet)

The sweet Summer rub-on below and the cute banner you see to your right of the layout (full layout picture) are OA's rub-ons.

OA has the BEST rub-ons!!! The do not stick at all, meaning if you hold the entire sheet of rubon's on your page, but only apply pressure to the word or image you want to release or transfer, they do just that.  I say they go on like butter! In a pinch I have used my fingernail to add pressure to release the transfer onto my paper without any issues (I told you I was not that organized - there is a rub-on roller tool in the bottom of my scrap bag somewhere!!!)

mmm I still have more journalling cards left, I wonder what else I can create??? :-)
